Flax loft and fiber supply, Glenealy, Central, Hong Kong
Linen stock held under one roof,
weighed, scoured and booked
Scour
Archibald of Aberdeen Limited runs a working flax loft for linen mills, garment workshops and interior houses that need dependable long fiber. Every lot passes through our Glenealy office at Rm 2A 17/F Glenealy Tower, 1 Glenealy, Central, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK), where the batch records, scouring schedules and loom calendars are kept on one desk.
We hold fiber in numbered bays, run scouring in measured batches, and reserve loom time against written contracts rather than loose promises. Buyers can study sample hanks before committing, and a condition review follows every delivery so the next batch starts from a known state. If you would like to walk the loft before booking, write to the booking desk now →
Our trade sits inside computer integrated systems design and related technical services, because the fiber work is managed by the same disciplined tracking that modern supply rooms expect: measured inputs, recorded outputs, and a clear trail from field to finished cloth.

What the loft actually does
A flax loft is a quiet place in practice and a busy place in record. Long fiber arrives in tied bundles called stricks, each one graded by fineness, strength and color. The loft sorts those stricks into bays that hold a single grade at a time, so a mill buyer can order twenty kilos of a fine line grade without the risk of coarse strands creeping into the run. Bays are numbered, weighed at intake, and re-weighed on dispatch. Archibald of Aberdeen Limited keeps that ledger in the Glenealy office and sends a copy with every consignment.
Scouring follows sorting. Raw fiber carries pectin, wax and field dust, and no loom will run well on it. We batch scoured fiber in warm water with a mild alkaline assistant, rinse it in staged tanks, and dry it on racks under controlled air. The result is a soft, pale fiber that takes dye evenly and spins without snagging. Each scour batch receives a number and a moisture reading, and the reading travels with the fiber so a spinner can adjust drafts before the first pass.
Loom booking is the third pillar. Independent weavers and small mills rarely own enough looms to cover a season, so they reserve time through us. A booking desk assigns warp preparation, weaving windows and finishing slots in a sequence that matches the fiber grade the client has chosen. When a booking is confirmed, the client receives a written schedule naming the fiber lot, the scour batch and the loom window. Nothing is held on verbal arrangements alone.
The last three services, condition reviews, sample hanks windows and season contract sittings, tie the whole operation together. Reviews catch moisture drift and handling damage before a lot leaves the door. Sample hanks give buyers a physical read on twist and color before they commit to volume. Season sittings put the year on paper so growers, scourers and weavers can plan against one shared calendar instead of three competing ones.

Fiber Lot Bays
Numbered bays hold one grade of long fiber at a time, weighed at intake and checked at dispatch. Buyers can reserve a bay for a season so their grade stays untouched between orders, and every movement is written into the Glenealy ledger.

Scouring Batch Runs
Warm water scouring removes pectin, wax and field dust in measured batches, followed by staged rinsing and rack drying. Each batch carries a moisture reading so spinners can set their drafts with confidence.

Loom Booking Desks
Warp preparation, weaving windows and finishing slots are assigned against a written schedule, never a verbal promise. Clients see the full sequence before they commit, and changes are logged with the date they were agreed.

Condition Reviews
Before dispatch, a reviewer opens each lot and checks moisture, color drift, breakage and handling marks. Findings are recorded against the lot number, and any remedial action is agreed with the buyer in writing.

Sample Hanks Windows
Short hanks of each grade are kept ready for buyers to handle, twist and compare under daylight. A sample window can be booked for a single visit or held open for a full season of sourcing work.

Season Contract Sittings
Once a year, growers, scourers and weavers sit down with one shared calendar. Volumes, grades and loom windows are fixed on paper so the coming season starts from a single agreed plan rather than guesswork.

Why buyers keep returning to one loft
Fiber supply breaks down when records break down. A mill that receives a bundle without a batch number cannot trace a fault, cannot repeat a good result, and cannot plan the next run. Archibald of Aberdeen Limited exists to remove that uncertainty. The loft holds grade, weight and condition together in a single chain of documents, and the Glenealy office answers questions about any lot within the working week.
We are deliberately small. Six services, one loft floor, one booking desk and one address. That size lets a buyer speak to the person who weighed the fiber, not a call centre reading a screen. It also means our loom bookings are honest about capacity: when the calendar is full, we say so rather than overbook and deliver late.
If you buy linen at any stage, whether raw fiber, scoured stock, woven cloth or finishing work, the loft can hold a place for you. Our contact details are on every page of this site, and the booking desk at bookings@fiberlugar.hair reads every message.
